When someone asks why living at The Ballentine is so special, there are a lot of “right” answers. For some, it’s the inviting aroma of freshly baked cornbread wafting out of our kitchen or the fact that there is so much to do here—every day. Others like our history—knowing that we were founded in 1896 by Thomas F. Ballentine and that the tradition of care he began has only improved with age.
Living at The Ballentine is very much like renting a home and does not require a long-term financial commitment. Residents pay a reasonable monthly fee that covers all services and accommodations, including meals, utilities, housekeeping, telephone, transportation and more. It also includes a little extra care and a lot of extra amenities for individuals or couples age 60 or over who desire to live in a comfortable and beautiful environment conveniently located in the heart of Norfolk.
